We’re warming up Downtown Bay City with the addition of three new fire features this winter!

New to Bay City-7-foot tall fireplace features are popping up throughout the area thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Bay Area Community Foundation‘s Healthy living Fund. The fund was created in 2018 after receiving $1 million from the Dow Corning Foundation alongside Midland Area Community Foundation & Saginaw Community Foundation for healthy communities.

The fireplaces operate using gas which is piped in from underground, through a dedicated gas line. Each fireplace has safety screens to prevent the public disposing of improper materials in them. The fireplaces run on a timer, are equipped with an automatic shutoff and are operational 24/7.

Serenus Johnson had the opportunity to custom craft these fireplaces inside our carpenter’s shop and make the final connections at each respective location. Behind the scenes footage and more photos of the creation of the fireplace features can be found on our Facebook page.

They can be found at Center Avenue & Water Street near Tavern 101, Center & Washington Avenue near MI Table and Third & Water Street (Coming Soon).
