In 2018, Serenus Johnson partnered with the construction management team at CIR Group on expanding the Bethany Lutheran Church on McCarty Road in Saginaw. The $116,000 renovation to this space is oriented toward the growth and expansion of their church body. Having the opportunity to expand their teaching space and worship space allows for Bethany Lutheran to adequately serve the families and local community in a new capacity, which they hadn’t been able to accommodate previously. Our trained professionals self-performed the rough framing on the roof and sheeting of two new additions, approximately 4,200 square feet in size. We worked alongside many other tradesmen throughout the project.
This project began mid-October and our portion of the work was completed mid-December. The construction crew faced many weather-related challenges during the late fall months, making heavy machinery difficult to operate in muddy conditions and extreme cold temperatures in December. They also faced a unique challenge of performing work on a 12’x12′ pitched roof on the narthex. This required the construction crew to take additional safety precautions when working on the roof and required the use of cranes to set the material safely.
Bethany Lutheran continues to progress through their construction, as they plan to expand their fellowship hall and additional storage rooms, adding an office and study, as well as ADA Compliant restrooms, renovations to the current nursery and board room, as well as many other details.
Adam Love served as the Site Superintendent for this project and Joel Keister, Vice President, served as the Project Manager.
