Global advanced materials manufacturer, Mersen USA, is expanding it’s Bay City manufacturing facility which machines graphite and rigid carbon insulation, used in semiconductors and electric vehicles. Due to the dramatic growth and increasing demand for these products, Mersen is increasing its production capacity and product offerings. The construction plan calls for improving their current facilities while adding 100% more area in operating infrastructures, to allow a more efficient operation. This project is expected to be a catalyst for the semiconductor industry’s continued growth in the state and will further solidify Mersen’s presence in the state and as a global leader in the manufacturing industry.

Some project specific challenges we have faced during the construction of this venture has been the demanding time frame for completion of each phase, which also includes the procurement of equipment. Our team worked with EGLE through wetland and floodplain mitigations, the utility expansion, and the challenge of allowing the business to maintain regular work hours and not impact their current production schedule as we make adjustments to their facilities.

The current schedule of this project indicates completion of Phase 1 in Summer 2024, Phase 2 completion in Summer 2025 and Phase 3 completion date is to be determined. This project has been performed as a Design / Build delivery method.

Located in Bay City, Michigan.
