We are proud to announce the opening of Labadie Lofts on the campus of Good Samaritan Rescue Mission! The Grand Opening event on June 27, included a ribbon cutting, prayer dedication and open house at the former Madison Avenue United Methodist Church at 400 N. Madison, next door to the rescue mission.
The church closed in 1987. Residents approved for the facility will need to be pursuing full-time education or vocational training. Labadie Lofts encourages a successful launch to life by providing clean, safe, supportive and affordable housing.
As an extension of the Youth Shelter, Good Samaritan Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan has developed a new apartment complex called “Labadie Lofts” located at 400 Madison Ave, Bay City. The complex is meant to assist young adults who may be aging out of foster care and are pursuing vocational training or education. This 12,000sf project includes the renovation of multiple large, classroom size rooms into 10 apartments, 2 community rooms (including 1 full kitchen), community bathrooms and overall facelift of the space.
The scope of work included flooring upgrades, painting, mechanical, electrical, new window treatments and acoustical treatment throughout. The biggest challenge was renovating a portion of the building while leaving the church area separate and in tact, as they have shared HVAC and electrical systems. While partnering with WTA Architects, this was a design / build delivery project that took place from May 2022 to November 2022.
Serenus Johnson has had the pleasure of being a partner of GSRM and City Rescue Mission of Saginaw on many projects throughout the years.
