May of 2014 brought Serenus Johnson and Mersen USA together again for a Design/Build pre-engineered 13,000 sf Machine Shop addition to the North side of Mersen’s existing facility.  The new structure included a conventional framed connector to their existing building.

Features of the addition included; additional restrooms/locker rooms, supporting offices for the machine shop along with numerous isolated machine bases.

Two specific challenges to this project were for the design team to create a walkway to the existing second floor office area to allow for access to the newly created machine shop, and for the creation of additional offices in an occupied area.

The January 2015 completion of the Machine Shop addition allowed Mersen to relocate specific machinery from another of their locations to redesign existing layout and improve upon their efficiency.
