Serenus Johnson Construction partnered with United Financial Credit Union, a Michigan-based credit union all over the Great Lakes Bay Region, to open it’s Auburn branch in December 2019. The location can be found at the corner of Midland Road and Garfield Roads. Serenus Johnson performed the General Trades, concrete package and overall sight supervision on this project. This project is a 2257sf, single story, slab on grade, wood framed building constructed on a 1.25 acre site. The main challenge of the project was trying to meet the scheduled date in December 2019. Material and equipment lead times became the critical path toward meeting this goal. There were also unforeseen below-grade sewer connection challenges. Additional challenges related to the installation of energy meters and their long design/installation times delayed the building main electrical and heating services. Despite the delay, we were able to utilize alternative means and methods and completed the job on schedule. A unique challenge to this project was the relocation of the existing safety deposit boxes from the former building to the new location. This was relocated using our own labor work force.

Special highlights on this project: Project incorporates in-slab hydronic heating at the vestibule and exterior sidewalks. Unique to UFCU’s design is the substantial remote ITM Canopy that maximizes the membership site logistics. The interior design is modern and bright. The wall behind the teller station incorporates an accent wall that elevates the design appeal. Cultured stone wainscoting wrapped the exterior of the building while seamlessly working its way into the vestibule space. The light fixtures are modern, yet efficient.
